analysis of axisymmetric and non-axisymmetric stretching of sheet metals by the finite element method
Authors
abstract
stretching process of sheet metals in both cases of axisymmetric and non-axisymmetric is analyzed. a rigid-plastic, normal anisotrop material is assumed and large strain formulation is applied. triangular elements are used and stiffness equations of elements are obtained from virtual work principle. these nonlinear equations are linearized by newton-raphsons method and are solved by gaussian elimination technique. punch displacement is applied incrementally and deformation of sheet specimen is obtained by calculation of displacement of nodes at each increment. after convergence of calculations at each increment, results which include nodes displacements, strains and stresses at elements, nodal forces and total punch force, etc., are saved and initial guesses are updated. this procedure is continued up to an obtainable or desired punch stroke. results of this analysis are presented and their comparison with other available theoretical and experimental works are very satisfactory.

full textAxisymmetric finite element solution of non-isothermal parallel-plate flow
Steady non-isothermal parallel-plate flow of a Newtonian fluid with a temperature dependent viscosity is considered. The viscosity is modelled by a Nahme type law. We apply axisymmetric Q finite elements to the coupled nonlinear system to obtain numerical solutions for a wide range of parameters.

First molars with full gold crown preparations and a shoulder geometry were ideaIized by an axisymmetric model and analyzed by the photoelastic. as uell as the finite element method. The photoelastic model was constructed in two pieces, the restoration and the tooth with the preparation. The two pieces were then luted together and the model was loaded axisymmetrically with 100 lb; it was stress...

Experimental stress analysis of dental structures has been a topic of interest during the past quarter century. The object of such research was the determination of stress distribution and improvement of the mechanical strength of these structures. Most of the stress analysis of dental structures was carried out using the photoelastic technique.1-8 A more recent method of stress analysis, origi...

The intention of this research is to make analyze of deep drawing Cr-Ni stainless steel process. The research is related to forces that appear in machine tool during the process and also to material stress and its behaviour. The results are taken from two sources and their comparison is made. The first source of results are experiments made on hydraulic press, and the other source are results o...
